January 10th, 2010

Dear Friends,

It's our pleasure to remind you that our first event of 2010, Swaraswati Puja, is on 23rd January. Last year we had a bad experience of malfunctioning of heating system at the temple during Swaraswati Puja. But this year, we assure you that there should be plenty of heat to make our event toasty and crunchy (We have received confirmation from HCS committee member that heating system of the HCS is fixed and functioning well).

We are also having a get together on Friday (22nd Jan) evening - we will decorate pratima, get ready for next day puja and finally will enjoy snacks and dinner together.

HOORREY. So please join us on Friday at 5 pm with a cutting knife and a peeler.

Here is the detail about PUJA timings:

09:00 AM     Puja starts
12:00 PM     Pushpanjoli
01:00 PM     Prasad and Lunch distribution
06:00 PM     Sandhya Aaroti
07:00 PM     Dinner

Dear Members,

We are so glad to let you know that Sanskriti Executive Committee has arranged with the help of Nikhiles Mukhopadhyay to visit the Spectacular Fall Color in Letchworth State Park in Genesee County. These 1,000 acres of land represent some of the most picturesque in the US. Coined the Grand Canyon of the East, Letchworth features a deep gorge cut by the Genesee River, three waterfalls and miles of hiking trails. The park is about 35 miles south of Rochester, NY.
We have reserved a Bus for this visit on October 11, 2008. Unfortunately, there are very limited seats only 47. As we have tremendous responses for this tour we are accepting people as first come first serve basis. If you are willing to join us please let us know ( Manju @ 741-4685, Rama @ 688-0860, Dolly @ 775-1933) by August 31st. Once the seats get filled up we cannot take any more people. So, if you decide to join us, you also have to pay the charge by August 31st, regardless, if you cannot make the trip for some reasons later. Details of this trip are given below.
Our Bus will start from HCS (Hindu Cultural Society) at 10 AM Sharp and leave the Park at 4 PM. It will take about 2 hours to reach there. So we'll have ample time to enjoy in between.
Sanskriti will provide a packed lunch.
The charges are: Members: $10/person, Non-members: $15/person. Children under 5 years are free but they cannot occupy any seats and have to sit with their parents.

Sincerely,
Sanskriti 2008 Committee
